Neil El Aynaoui made the switch from Lens to AS Roma this summer. The Moroccan midfielder opened up about the behind-the-scenes details of his transfer to the Italian capital. "If I'm not mistaken, I think it was my little brother who told me. It was already being discussed, and I believe it was my brother who broke the news that it was official. I was somewhat prepared, so it wasn't a shock, but I felt proud. I was proud—this is something I wanted, so I was super happy it happened. Then, I couldn't wait to get started." he told Capté.

Neil El Aynaoui also took the opportunity to discuss his unexpected departure: "No, honestly, I wasn't expecting to leave. As I said, I was really happy at Lens. I could have happily stayed at Lens. It was only if an opportunity came up, but I didn't want to leave Lens. It would have to be, as it happened, a club like AS Roma coming in. That's my dream, it's every kid's dream who plays football to play for clubs like that. I couldn't see myself leaving Lens for anything other than a major project. That's what happened, so I'm happy."
