AS Monaco's 1100 Ligue 1 victories in focus | OneFootball

By beating Le Havre 3-1 on Saturday, AS Monaco not only made a successful start to the league season, but also reached the symbolic milestone of 1,100 victories in Ligue 1. Here are some numbers on this historic achievement.

They achieved much more than a first victory this season. As they started the 2025-2026 season ideally by beating Le Havre at the Stade Louis-II (3-1), the AS Monaco players have above all written a new line in the history of the Club by recording their 1100th win in Ligue 1 — a  symbolic figure which we tell the story of with statistics. 📊

The first of 1,100 victories against… Le Havre 🔙

Let’s first go back in time and stop at September 13, 1953. After one draw and three defeats, the Rouge et Blanc won 4-1 thanks to Marius Walter, Raoul Conti, and Jean Saunier twice. While this result may seem trivial, it isn’t, as it was simply AS Monaco’s first victory in Division 1, which, incidentally, had already been achieved against… Le Havre.

Second team to reach 1,100 wins ✌️

Nearly 72 years later, Monaco recorded their 1100th win this Saturday, against only 661 draws and 678 defeats, becoming the second team to reach this total after Olympique de Marseille (1,206), according to Opta. With 2,439 matches played, their win ratio is, however, higher than that of Marseille (45.1% vs. 44.9%), and they are second only to PSG in this respect (49.3%).

Stade Rennais, a favorite victim 🐺

Having beaten 61 teams throughout their history, one of them has been particularly unlucky opponent: Stade Rennais. With 54 wins in 97 matches, they are in fact the team that has been beaten most often by the club from the Principality, ahead of RC Strasbourg and Olympique Lyonnais, both with 49. This was particularly true last season with six points picked up, just as they had in 2016-2017.

2016-2017, a historic season of victories 👏

This was a historic season since, in addition to their eighth league title, AS Monaco recorded 30 victories, a record shared with Paris Saint-Germain! Finally, during that season, several Ligue 1 victories remain fresh in everyone’s memory, such as the 7-0 win at Metz in September 2016, which remains the team’s biggest away win, or the 6-0 thrashing of Nancy at the Stade Louis-II.

The biggest win against Les Girondins 🍷

The biggest league victory, however, did not date back nine years but rather to the last century, in 1985-1986! In a Stade Louis-II opened a few months earlier, Lucien Muller’s men  won 9-0 against Girondins de Bordeaux, notably with four goals from Bernard Genghini and a double from Daniel Bravo. 1100 and more to come… 🇲🇨
