Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has broken his silence on his future at the club, expressing his desire to continue leading the Gunners.

With his contract set to enter its final year, Arteta said, “I would love to do that [extend the contract]. The demands here are so big and the expectation is going to be bigger and bigger. My job is to fulfil them and to find the tools and communicate in the right way. The hope and the ambition is to go much further than we are right now.”

Mikel Arteta’s time in charge of Arsenal has seen a remarkable transformation in the club’s fortunes. He has guided the team into a title race with Manchester City this season and last, challenging the dominance of City and Liverpool well ahead of schedule.

Despite Arteta’s success in turning everything around at Arsenal, there has been little talk of a new deal with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

However, the 42-year-old manager has dispelled any rumours of leaving, seeming very keen to keep improving things at Arsenal. There is zero chance the club want to let him go. A new deal, then, is inevitable. Thankfully.

Arsenal currently have a narrow one-point lead over City, who still have a game in hand. They’ve equalled the club record for wins in a season, held by The Invincibles (26). If Arsenal don’t win the title this season, few would bet against them taking it home next year.
