One of the primary concerns is Myles Lewis-Skelly, who missed the Zagreb game after suffering a knee injury in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.

Arteta shed light on the 18-year-old’s condition after the Champions League match, saying: “He jarred his knee in the game against Villa, and he thought it was okay when he finished the game. The next day it wasn’t bad, but yesterday he wasn’t feeling right. He started the session, but it didn’t feel good. We’ll have more tests tomorrow. Hopefully, it’s nothing big, but the games are coming very fast.”

Ahead of the game against Wolves, Arteta was asked if either Lewis-Skelly or William Saliba could be available this weekend and he replied, “Yeah. ”

He then added, “With Myles, there is nothing serious on the scan. So, it will be a matter of today having a meeting with the medical staff. We have a training session. Whether it is too early or not [we don’t know].

Lewis-Skelly has become an important figure in Arteta’s lineup, starting five of Arsenal’s last seven Premier League matches and solidifying his place as a reliable option in midfield and at left-back.

Arteta also provided an update on William Saliba.

“And with Willy, it is something similar as well. I think they will definitely be in for next week. This week, let’s see how it goes.” Arteta said.

Asked about Ben White, who has returned to training on grass after his knee surgery, and is hoping to be back for the game against City on 2 February, Arteta said, “Very good. He hasn’t trained with the team yet, but I think he is very close to doing that.

“He needs to still tick a few boxes in the next two or three days. If that is all going well and smoothly, I think he will be with us pretty soon.”

As for Bukayo Saka, who has been out since the game against Crystal Palace on 21 December and was expected back around March, Arteta rather worryingly said, “We don’t know how long he is out and how many games he can play.”
