The Gunners’ recent string of away victories, paired with their formidable defence and potent attack, has pundits and legends alike singing their praises. With the title race heating up, Arsenal’s strengths and potential weaknesses are under the microscope as they solidify their position as serious contenders.
Arsenal‘s recent away form has been nothing short of exceptional. With three consecutive 5+ goal victories, a feat unprecedented in English football history, the Gunners have cemented their dominance on the road. Their suffocating defence, conceding just one shot on target in these three games, underscores their superiority.
Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, boldly proclaimed Arsenal as possessing the best defence in Europe: “If Arsenal press all over the pitch, there is no team in the Premier League and probably the whole of Europe that defends better.”
Arsenal‘s attacking prowess is equally impressive, surpassing 300 Premier League goals under Mikel Arteta‘s leadership in 161 games. However, while club legend Thierry Henry lauds their current form, he highlights a potential weakness: “They are not used to standing in their own penalty area and defending crosses. Every time we get into that situation, I see us getting into trouble.”
Despite the lack of a traditional top striker, Arsenal‘s clinical finishing across the team makes them a force to be reckoned with. Henry believes this distributed scoring ability negates the need for a single prolific finisher: “In January the discussion was whether they should not sign a striker, but they just have to take their chances…They were creating those chances all the time, they just weren’t taking them.”
With the title race intensifying, Arsenal‘s impressive form puts them in a strong position. Whether they can maintain this momentum and ultimately lift the trophy remains the biggest question.
