The Premier League title race increasingly appears to be a straight showdown between Arsenal and Manchester City, but it is Tottenham who will have a decisive say, according to Jamie Redknapp.

City responded to Arsenal’s big win over Chelsea with a comfortable victory of their own, beating Brighton 4-0 on Thursday night to move to within a point of the Gunners at the top of the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand, which is a potentially tricky test away to Tottenham in the final week of the season, while Liverpool, who have dropped off the pace in the title race, host Spurs at Anfield. Before then, though, it is Arsenal who make the short trip to face their north London rivals this weekend.

The Gunners then host Bournemouth, before taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford and hosting Everton on the final day, with Redknapp backing them to win those three games if they can secure victory against their biggest rivals first.

“Tottenham have a massive part to play don’t they?” Redknapp said.

“They’ve obviously going to play Arsenal on Sunday which is going to be a huge game. We’ve only got to look at [Liverpool’s defeat to Everton]… with derby matches anything is possible.

“If Arsenal can navigate that one and get three points, I think they win all their games. Then it’s just a question of if Manchester City were to just slip up once and by slipping up I mean a draw. Then it’ll be Arsenal’s title.

“Tottenham have got a home game against Manchester City as well. They’ve got a good record against them.”

The fixture list appears to be kinder for City, who host Wolves and West Ham and face away trips to Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Tottenham in their bid to win a fourth title in a row.

They do have a particularly poor record away to Spurs though, losing their last four Premier League matches and failing to score a single goal in the process, and Clichy believes Ange Postecoglou’s side are Arsenal’s only real hope of City dropping points.

“Tottenham can really change the course of the race,” the former Arsenal and City left-back said.

“If Arsenal goes and wins away this puts pressure on City. But I don’t see City dropping points against [Nottingham] Forest, against Wolverhampton, against Fulham, but I see them struggling against Tottenham.”
