Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are not yet out of the Premier League title race, and they’re looking to land a contemporary of captain, Martin Odegaard.

Although Liverpool have a game in hand over the Gunners which, if won, would taken them seven points clear, it’s not an insurmountable gap for the North Londoners to try and close.

That will surely be the message from Arteta as he looks for the consistency from his squad in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.

It isn’t clear at this stage if one, both or neither will be signed in the current window, though one player that the North Londoners do seem keen on recruiting at the earliest opportunity is 18-year-old Sverre Nypan.

According to The Telegraph (subscription required), the Rosenborg midfielder who has been likened to countryman and Gunners captain, Martin Odegaard, and who shares an agent with Erling Haaland, is likely to be available for just £10m.

The outlet also detail how agent, Rafaela Pimenta, described Nypan as “spectacular” in a 2023 interview with Nettavisen.

It’s clear that big things are expected of the youngster, and to that end a move to a bigger club is almost a given.

Odegaard contemporary would be a £10m bargain for Mikel Arteta

For £10m it isn’t even a punt as far as Arsenal are concerned.

If he’s anywhere close to how reports have described him, the Gunners will be landing themselves a bargain and a player, despite his age, who has already play more than 50 games in the Norwegian top-flight.

With just under two weeks left of the transfer window, there’s time to get the deal done this month.

Any delay until the summer could be fatal to Arsenal’s chances of landing the player as The Telegraph also report that Man City are circling.
