The Brazil international endured a downturn in form last season and has struggled for status amid the presence of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the Madrid frontline.
A potential move has been touted, with Rodrygo also keen to play from his preferred left-wing position.
Arsenal are targeting a left-sided forward and are prepared to pay a premium price for the right player. After initial expectations that Real Madrid would demand a fee of £100m, there is now a belief that Rodrygo could be secured for closer to £70m.
Flashscore are reporting that fee is feasible for the Gunners provided the structure of the deal makes sense. The North Londoners are willing to spend big for the right player and believe Rodrygo could offer something ‘unique’ if available.
Arsenal’s pursuit of a left-winger comes alongside the desire to add a number nine. Talks are ongoing with RB Leipzig and Sporting CP respectively for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, the two players who have emerged as the club’s leading targets for that position. Each would cost upwards of €70m.
Arsenal have also submitted an offer of €11m for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard and are closing in on the £5m signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
