There is an outside chance that Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard could be available for the Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday, according to the Evening Standard.
The Norway international has missed the last 11 games across all competitions for the Gunners after damaging his ankle ligaments in a friendly against Austria on September 9.
However, Arsenal are hopeful he will be back for next week’s Champions League match away at Inter Milan.
Odegaard is progressing well in his recovery from the ankle injury after manager Mikel Arteta confirmed he could return sooner than expected.
However, Arsenal are mindful not to rush the 25-year-old back to action, given the big games ahead of them.
They visit Inter in their fourth game of the Champions League opening phase before visiting Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea for their 11th Premier League game of the season.
The November international break follows, and Arsenal will take their time before they make a final decision on Odegaard.
The Gunners have missed their captain’s creativity, and having him back for those huge games would be a massive boost.
They have drawn three and lost one across all competitions in his absence, and having him on the bench against Newcastle could come in handy.
They are without a victory in their last two league games following a defeat to Bournemouth and a draw against Liverpool, and anything apart from a win on Saturday will damage their title hopes.
