Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Champions League trip to Real Madrid after Thomas Partey took part in training on Tuesday.

Partey was forced off in the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford, sparking fitness concerns before Wednesday’s quarter-final return leg at the Bernabeu.

Mikel Arteta said after the Brentford game that the midfielder “felt something”.

But Partey trained with the rest of the Arsenal squad on Tuesday morning before they were due to fly out to Spain.

His availability is a major boost for the Gunners, who lead 3-0 from the first leg at Emirates Stadium last week.

Jorginho has been ruled out of the second leg against Real Madrid after he was forced off late on against Brentford.

Ben White trained after missing the Brentford game.

Arteta said last week that White felt an issue in training and the defender was not in the squad at the weekend.

Jurrien Timber “wasn’t ready to start” against Brentford, according to Arteta, but he is expected to start at the Brentford.

Arteta will provide a full fitness update on the Arsenal squad when he holds a news conference in Madrid on Tuesday evening.

Jakub Kiwior is expected to continue at centre-back alongside William Saliba in the absence of Gabriel, who will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.
