Arsenal are in negotiations with Celtic over a deal that would see Kieran Tierney return to the Scottish club.

Tierney has been informed that his Arsenal contract will not be extended and the left-back can leave as a free agent in the summer. However, Celtic are keen to fast-track a potential return for their former academy graduate with all parties open to a deal.

The 27-year-old made his first Arsenal appearance in 18 months during the League Cup win over Crystal Palace last month. Tierney spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, where he made 26 appearances, after falling out of favour at the Emirates.

His time with Arsenal has been punctuated by injury problems since signing from Celtic in a £25m deal in 2019. During his first spell in Glasgow, Tierney won eight major trophies and was named PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year in three consecutive campaigns between 2016 and 2018.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that negotiations between Arsenal and the Scottish side are underway. Tierney is keen on the return to Celtic, who are 11 points clear in the Scottish Premiership title race despite defeat to Old Firm rivals Rangers on Thursday.

Celtic are also positioned in the Champions League play-off places ahead of their penultimate league phase fixture against Young Boys at Celtic Park. Brendan Rodgers’ side concluded their Champions League group campaign at Aston Villa later this month.
