Xavier’s expertise in the region is well-known. He’s joined Arsenal‘s scouting team, working alongside two others in South America.

His move follows a successful period at Real Madrid under chief scout Juni Calafat.

Arsenal’s decision to bring Xavier on board reflects their continued interest in the South American market, having signed players like Gabriel Martinelli in 2019 and Marquinhos in 2022.

Before joining Madrid, Xavier had a brief spell at Manchester United in 2017, following his work with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) between 2015 and 2017.

It was during this time that he worked with Arsenal‘s current sporting director Edu, who played a key role in his appointment at the North London club.

This addition to Arsenal‘s scouting network comes at a time when the club is top of the Premier League, following a 2-0 victory over Brighton. With the team paired with Porto in the last-16 of the Champions League, Xavier’s expertise in identifying promising South American talents could prove invaluable in strengthening Mikel Arteta‘s squad for the challenges ahead.

Arsenal fans have expressed excitement over this development. The expectation is that Xavier’s expertise in unearthing talents like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo at Madrid will translate into discovering similar gems for Arsenal.

His appointment is seen as a significant move both on and off the pitch, further strengthening Arsenal’s position in the competitive football landscape.
