Arsenal have been performing well of late in the Premier League, but they might not be able to win the title. However, they beat Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates Stadium and are favourites to qualify for the semi-final.
However, the Gunners have been struggling with the lack of a world-class number nine to lead their attack. Gabriel Jesus has not performed for them consistently and has struggled with injury issues. Kai Havertz has not been prolific this season and Mikel Arteta has had to play Mikel Merino as a number nine and out of position.
The North London side are looking to transform their side in the summer, and the most important target that they must be looking at is a world-class number nine. Fichajes has reported that the Gunners are ready to pay €150 million to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan. The Argentine striker has been in great form in club football as well as international football in recent seasons.
Lautaro Martinez is a striker who brings a lethal mix of grit, skill, and smarts to the pitch. The Inter Milan star thrives in the box, with sharp positioning and a knack for finding space where others don’t. His low center of gravity makes him tough to shake off the ball, while his aerial prowess adds a dimension Arsenal’s attack has missed.
A tireless presser and clinical finisher, Martinez will add quality to the frontline of Arsenal. If the Gunners sign him this summer, Martinez could transform their frontline, offering the goal threat and tenacity that Mikel Arteta craves to push for silverware.
Talking about his performance, Martinez has scored 11 goals in 28 matches so far in the Serie A 2024/2025 season. 4 of the 11 goals were scored at home, while he scored 7 goals at away games. Overall, Martinez’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.42. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 14 for this season. The Inter Milan striker’s goal involvement equates to 0.54 per 90 minutes, and his non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.48 (as of April 9, 2025).
He has a contract with Inter till 2029, and Inter definitely consider him one of the most important players in the squad. However, a fee of €150 million will tempt the Serie A side to sell him in the summer and make a profit.
