Real Sociedad and Dinamo Moscow have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Russian midfielder Arsen Zakharyan. He will sign for five seasons after agreeing terms with the Spanish side, AS have reported, and will travel to Spain on Wednesday to undergo a medical.
La Real are expected to pay €12m to Dinamo, who were originally asking for €15m. Zakharyan has been dubbed as the biggest promise in Russian football. Zakharyan, of Armenian origin, was close to signing for Chelsea a year ago, but they instead opted for Mykhailo Mudryk. In recent weeks it sounded like a possibility that the Russian could sign for PSV, Lazio or Strasbourg, but none of those options came close to happening.
After a very irregular season due to off-the-field difficulties, this year Zakharyan has scored two goals in five league and cup matches. The 20-year-old has played for the Russian national team seven times and is seen as the best talent that the country has produced in decades.
