Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni believes Inter Milan “play from memory” and are capable of winning the Champions League.

The Albiceleste coach gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri, Simone Inzaghi, and the title race with Napoli in an interview in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan have established themselves as one of the most formidable teams in Europe in the last couple years.

The Nerazzurri had already reached the summit of Italian football in the 2020-21 season. They won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.

But since the arrival of Simone Inzaghi on the bench, Inter have also become force in Europe. That had never really been the case with Conte as coach.

In the meantime, though, Conte has returned to haunt Inter.

Last summer, the former Nerazzurri, Chelsea, and Juventus coach took over at Napoli. And he has the Partenopei narrowly ahead of Inter in the Serie A title race at the moment.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni predicts that the title race will be “open until the end.”

“A lot will depend on how Inter do in the Champions League,” he argued. “Inzaghi’s team are capable of going all the way in Europe.”

“And then obviously the strain of playing so much can be a factor.”

“In that sense, Napoli who have had a great season so far under Conte can have a bit of an advantage,” anticipated Scaloni.

“It will be decisive whether or not Inter are able to keep it up on multiple fronts.”

Meanwhile, Scaloni argued that Inter are “undoubtedly the team who know each other best” in Serie A.

“They play from memory,” the Argentina coach said. “They know the positional changes and movements perfectly.”

He added, “They do everything in such a natural way, it’s difficult for opponents to stop that fluidity.”

Scaloni noted that “Everyone says Inzaghi plays with a 3-5-2 shape, but sometimes I try and understand how they play when they have the ball and it’s not easy to decipher.”

“The forward runs of Bastoni and Darmian. Dimarco drifting infield. They do it all so clearly that it’s hard to stop.”
