Now a new report indicates that City are contemplating triggering the release clause in Zubimendi’s contract. The conflicting reports highlight the ever-changing nature of the transfer window.

Pete O’Rourke has reported for Football Insider that Manchester City are now considering a move for Martin Zubimendi. Furthermore, O’Rourke reports that the Spanish international may be open to leaving Real Sociedad in January. Lastly, O’Rourke adds that if Zubimendi is open to leaving his boyhood club next month, a host of top clubs would be interested in signing the midfielder.

There is no doubt that Martin Zubimendi would be a strong addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. The Spanish international is almost the ideal player to bolster Manchester City’s midfield. He plays a similar role to that of Rodri. Although, he isn’t the same type of player as City’s midfield general. The conflicting nature of recent reports on City’s supposed interest in Zubimendi makes it hard to ascertain if the City will move for the Spanish international.

But that is the nature of the transfer window. What may be an accurate report one day could change rapidly the next day.
