Manchester United winger Antony made the perfect start to his Real Betis career as he was named MVP of the match in their 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

The Brazilian made his debut from the start against the Basques at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

He played 72 minutes of action before he was subbed off and replaced by Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.

The winger was given a score of 7 on Sofascore for his night’s work in Sevilla.

The Brazil international had 40 touches of the ball and completed 20 out of his 24 pass attempts for a completion rate of 83%.

Crucially two of these were considered key passes and he was heavily involved in Isco’s goal.

His first action came in the 15th minute when he broke down the right hand side and fired a trademark curling shot towards the bottom corner but it was well stopped by Unai Simon, only for Isco to turn in the rebound.

Antony celebrated wildly in front of his new fans, slapping his chest with emotion as his debut got off to the perfect start just 15 minutes into the action.

Donning the number seven shirt, Antony played in a beautiful pass that put Johnny Cardoso in on goal but he could only fire right at the keeper.

The Brazilian completed both his long passes and was successful in his only crossing attempt.

He also had another shot off target as he proved a threat to the Bilbao defence all night.

Antony competed in six duels but only won one of them and failed to win his one aerial battle in the match.

Despite not completing the match he was named the MVP of the game by La Liga (Most Valuable Player – their equivalent of Man of the Match) in a highly encouraging opening performance for his new side.

After the contest he took to Instagram to comment, “Important debut! I am happy to be with my teammates on the pitch and to be able to play for these fans.”

Antony will next be in action for Real Betis when they travel to play Celta Vigo on Saturday.
