Huddersfield Town boss Lee Grant is entering his first summer transfer window as a manager, and he faces some big decisions over a number of Terriers players.

One of whom the 42-year-old Terriers boss may well have a big call to make on is that of versatile attacking midfielder, Antony Evans.

The 26-year-old was only arrived at the John Smith's Stadium last summer, having spent three seasons as a Bristol Rovers player, but he could already be heading for the exit door.

Journalist Alan Nixon reporting via his Patreon account last weekend has claimed that Wigan manager Ryan Lowe is intent on bringing Evans to The Brick Community Stadium this summer.

It's claimed that the Town star could be sold for a cut-price fee, or perhaps even be sent out on loan, with the Latics said to be at the front of the queue should any kind of transfer be green-lit.

We asked our Huddersfield Town fan pundit, Graeme Rayner: 'According to reports, Huddersfield could loan out Antony Evans or sell him at a bargain price this summer amid interest from Wigan. The playmaker didn't really deliver last season after completing a move from Bristol Rovers and was in and out of the side.

'Do you think Huddersfield should be looking to cash in after just one year, or is there more to come from Evans? He was really impressive during his time at Rovers...'

Rayner said: "Antony Evans was a big disappointment, a really big disappointment. He was player of the year for Bristol Rovers in the 2023/24 season.

"He rarely delivered the level of performance that we would have expected to see. He was someone that we expected more from.

"So, I suppose, if we get an offer that makes sense, he's not someone that I think too many Huddersfield fans would be upset to see leaving. If he stays, it's a make or break season for him.

"He really needs to up his game, and adapt to the new system and coaching team well, and really deliver something that can justify him having been named player of the year at a club that was in the same division (League One)."

Lee Grant will surely want to work with Antony Evans at Huddersfield Town given Bristol Rovers evidence

Prior to signing for Huddersfield last summer, Evans had proven himself to be a quality player at League One level during his time with Bristol Rovers.

The Everton academy graduate registered six goals and six assists in 43 League One appearances last term, whilst also bagging a further four goals and two assists in cup competitions last season.

As such, the 26-year-old has proven that he can be an excellent source of goals at third tier level, and despite not having the dream debut campaign for Huddersfield Town in 2024/25, he was still able to bag two goals and six assists in 34 league appearances.

Therefore, there is evidently a top player in there at League One level, and under the new management of Grant, he may well be primed for a better season next term at the John Smith's.

At the very least, you would expect Grant would want to see what he has there, as top-quality attacking midfielders don't grow on trees, and Evans has shown that he can be exactly that at third tier level in the past.
