Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger on Tuesday paid one of his teammates in Spain’s capital the ultimate compliment…

The player in question? Jude Bellingham.

Midfielder Bellingham, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a historic debut campaign at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Since swapping Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid last summer, the 20-year-old has gone on to establish himself as arguably Los Blancos’ star performer, racking up 31 direct goal contributions across 36 appearances to date.

Such exploits have seen Bellingham take his place front and centre in the chatter surrounding the next Ballon d’Or award, with the Englishman closing on a La Liga and Champions League double, too.

And one fellow member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for whom as much has certainly not gone unappreciated comes in the form of the aforementioned Antonio Rüdiger.

Speaking in an interview with French outlet CARRÉ this week, stopper Rüdiger was asked for his take on the world’s best player debate at this moment in time.

And the Real Madrid standout did not hesitate in responding:

“The best player in the world is Jude Bellingham.”
