Anselmino joins Dortmund on loan | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Aaron Anselmino. The young centre-back joins the Bundesliga on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

"I am really looking forward to Borussia Dortmund and will give my all to be successful with this great club and their fantastic fans,” the player said, as reported by the German club.

Lars Ricken, CEO of the club, explained this market move: "Due to the injuries to Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Niklas Süle, we have been forced to make additions to our central defence.

"Aaron Anselmino has already gained top-flight experience in his home country and has great potential. It is not without reason that Chelsea signed him on an extremely long-term contract last summer."

Having come through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors, the centre-back made his professional debut in 2023. The following year, he played 18 matches for the Buenos Aires team, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

His positive performances, coupled with a significant potential for development, led the Blues to spend €20 million to secure Anselmino's services that same year.

The defender even made his debut for the main London team last season, but the lack of space in the English squad now takes him to the Bundesliga to gain experience playing for Dortmund.
