Liverpool Transfers: Major Target Withdraws from International Duty

The transfer window is certainly starting to ramp up with Liverpool expected to complete two more signings in the next week. The first of those could be AFC Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with Liverpool potentially receiving a major boost in that race this morning.

According to Ben Bocsak, the Hungarian has withdrawn from international duty early and will miss Tuesday’s game against Azerbaijan.

“Milos Kerkez leaves the Hungary camp for ‘private’ reasons and won’t play vs Azerbaijan on Tuesday,” the tweet reads.

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on an agreement to sign the full-back for a fee of around £45million. With this latest news, an announcement could come early next week.

Liverpool’s Summer Plans

The Reds have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen after they triggered his £29.5million release clause. Kerkez could be the next piece of Arne Slot’s defensive reshuffle, with left-back Kostas Tsimikas expected to make way for the Hungarian.

Next week will also be pivotal for Liverpool’s pursuit of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen with the Reds submitting a £113m bid to sign the German. That move would be a record-breaking one with Wirtz becoming the most expensive Liverpool player of all time and also the most expensive German player in history.
