According to L’Équipe, Angel Gomes (23) could be unavailable for Lille OSC until after their Europa Conference League quarter-final against Aston Villa.

The midfielder, the third most used outfield player at Lille, suffered a hamstring injury during training which will see him out for three weeks as recovers.

Gomes is set to miss the derby against RC Lens on Friday evening, the following game against Olympique de Marseille, as well as the opening leg visit to Birmingham to play Aston Villa.

Aston Villa quarter-final in doubt for Gomes

Gomes will likely remain a doubt for the return leg on the 18th of April. This could mean the earliest that Gomes will return to the playing field could be for the rescheduled fixture against Monaco, which fortunately for the midfielder had been delayed by 10 days to the 24th of April.

This will be a huge blow to Paulo Fonesca’s plans as the manager attempts to navigate a difficult end to the season, that sees Les Dogues competing for a Champions League position and a European tie against heavy favourites for the competition.
