Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign a new left-back this month to appease Ruben Amorim, and three names have surfaced on the scene.

The Portuguese manager brought his famous 3-4-2-1 system with him after making the move from Sporting CP to Carrington in November. However, it has been plainly obvious that the 39-year-old doesn’t have the right personnel to properly interpret this formation.

Moreover, the left flank has been an issue of its own, as Luke Shaw’s injury ordeal is showing no signs of ending, while Tyrell Malacia has been struggling for fitness after making his return from a year-long hiatus. Therefore, Diogo Dalot has been switched from the right side to the left wingback role.

The Premier League giants have secured the signing of 19-year-old Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon, but they obviously need a more prepared addition, capable of hitting the ground running.

According to Fichajes.net, Man Utd have identified three possible solutions for this dilemma, beginning with Patrick Dorgu. The 20-year-old Dane has been one of the best youngsters in Serie A this season, cementing himself as a key figure in the Lecce squad. He has also been deployed in a more advanced role as an inverted right winger, so can be considered quite versatile.

The second name on the list is Milos Kerkez who has been one of the best revelations in the Premier League this season. The 21-year-old has thus far contributed with one goal and three assists for Bournemouth this term. However, he’s considered a more pricey option compared to Dorgu.

Finally, Nuno Mendes is obviously the most prominent name on the list, as he’s been plying his trade at Paris Saint-Germain since 2021. However, the Ligue 1 champions are struggling to renew his contract which will expire in 2026, leaving an opening for the Red Devils who would like to reunite him with his old Sporting CP coach.
