AC Ajaccio face a critical situation both on and off the pitch. The Corsican side are near the bottom of Ligue 2, while their financial troubles are pressing with L’Équipe writing that the club are €7.5 million in debt.
In December, the Ligue 2 side were informed by the financial watchdog (DNCG) that they had been handed a provisional relegation unless they could right their financial situation by the end of the season.
The club have been in search of a new owner and, in December, revealed that talks with prospective buyers had collapsed. However, Corse-Matin have now reported that the team are subject to interest from a US businessman, Glenn Straub.
The American will reportedly travel to Corsica on Friday to look at the club’s acquisition files with his lawyer and inspect the Stade Michel Moretti’s infrastructure. On Saturday, he will also be present for the match against EA Guingamp.
