Manchester United star Amad Diallo has said that he wants to step up in the upcoming season and become a key member of the team.

Amad spoke to club media after his brilliant display against Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium.

The Ivorian won a penalty that was converted by Marcus Rashford to cancel Betis’ opening strike. Amad then flipped the game on its head soon after as he rifled in home a powerful shot, to give United the lead.

Casemiro’s third goal all but secured the victory for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Amad was once again a standout performer and is certainly making a strong case to be a guaranteed starter in the team for the FA Cup Community Shield clash vs. Manchester City.

Ten Hag previously challenged Amad to step up to the mantle this term and it seems that the forward is heeding his manager’s call.

The 22-year-old told MUTV after the final whistle, “I feel very good.”

“I think we were ready for the game and as I said yesterday [at the pre-match press conference], I feel like everybody in training was focused and today I saw that my team-mates were focused. We are happy for the win.”

“For me it is important for me to fight for the team and to help the team. I do my job on the pitch and I am happy for that.”

“I am happy with [my] goal, but most importantly I am happy for the win.”

Amad added, “I want to step up this season because I am so motivated and I am so excited.”

“I can’t wait for the season to start.”

United have one final game left of their pre-season tour, against Liverpool this weekend.
