Bayern Munich are working on multiple contract extensions. It does look like the first deal that could get over the line one way or the other will be with Alphonso Davies.
As per multiple journalists such as Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano (via iMiaSanMia), Alphonso Davies' agent, Nick Househ, is in Munich to assume contract talks with the player. Christian Falk reported that Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are said to be very positive about finally being able to agree on a new contract with the left-back.
It was further reported that Davies could be the first domino of several important contracts that Bayern want to extend, including Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich. All three players, who are of huge importance to Bayern, are out of contract in the summer - and can sign pre-contracts with clubs from abroad.
In addition, Plettenberg has suggested that the contract offer is similar to what they offered the player last summer, worth 14-15 million Euros gross per year, including add ons - until 2029. He says that Bayern are optimistic about extending the Canadian full-back's contract.
There had been a lot of talk of Real Madrid wanting the left-back over the last year or so, but that talk seems to have died down. So far, Davies is currently having his best season in a Bayern shirt since his breakthrough campaign in 2019/20 and looks to be fulfilling the potential that everybody knew he had back then.
Despite being an incredibly fast player, capable of motoring down on the flank, the Canadian international has really adapted to playing an inverted role under Vincent Kompany. He has been superb in possession, and his recovery pace has been crucial to preventing counterattacks and making sure Bayern are able to pen teams in their own defensive third.
The positvity around Davies, both on the pitch and with contract talks, feels absolutely night and day compared to even a time as recently as last summer. Let's hope his form can continue, giving Bayern a much better chance of regaining their Bundesliga throne - whilst signing that new contract at long last.
