ALLEGRI: "READY TO REDEEM OURSELVES IN LECCE" | OneFootball

A difficult start to life in the league, and now it's time for a tricky away trip in a bid to pick ourselves back up: following the defeat to Cremonese, we're back in Serie A Action at Lecce's Via del Mare. On the eve of the clash, on Serie A matchday 2, Coach Allegri has spoken to the press in his press conference at Milanello, which was live on AC Milan Official App and Milan TV.

AFTER CREMONESE "We want to redeem ourselves, it was an unexpected defeat in which we had a few chances to win the game thanks to the chances we created. Against Lecce, we will have the chance to pick ourselves back up against a quick team who play an organised style of football. We will manage somehow in attack: we have Gimenez, and we'll have some options off of the bench. The important thing will be to approach the game in the right way and with respect: they're coming off the back of a survived relegation battle which has boosted them, and they got a good point against Genoa".

THE TRANSFER MARKET "The final days are always like this, they don't scare me because we're used to these situations. The Club is thinking about the market, as they're trying to create a squad that can grow from daily work and be in the best position possible in the league in March. I am very happy with the lads, we're annoyed by the defeat but we need to keep working and thinking about how much we need to do". GIMENEZ AND INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS "Santi is, at the moment, the only striker that we have. He's a great player who scored lots at Feyenoord, I've known him for 20 days: we expect a lot from him. We need to work every day and see this team's growth, also when it comes to individual players. Some great young players with lots of potential have come in, we need to work to improve on the position we finished in last season, and we have six months until March to do this".

SYNERGY AND UNITY OF PURPOSE "We speak a lot with Tare, Furlani, Ibrahimović and Moncada, but the Club manages the market. We can't forget that the Club has to unite the sporting part with the economic part. We need to have patience and trust in the market and the Club's work as they try to build a competitive team. We're thinking about the match against Lecce, the Club is thinking about the market: my job is different. I am here to train the players that I have, I have a team with important values". INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS AND CHOICES "Jashari is, above all, a strong player with lots of potential. Unfortunately, he got injured in our small match this morning so he won't feature tomorrow. In general, he's a player that can play in front of the defence or in centre midfield in a two. I don't know who will play in defence. We analysed the goals we conceded, and we could've done better: they are errors that can happen, but they were the only error that we made. We now have to get rid of the errors".

PERFORMANCES AND RESULTS "Football can't be explained, it is played. We conceded from two crosses, and we were positioned correctly. We conceded a few shots on goal against Bari and Maignan had to make two important saves, it's not like if you win there are no errors and everything is good. But also, in Perth, Dublin and London we conceded a few chances from situations that we need to improve on. After the Coppa Italia match, watching Maignan's saves and the two dangerous chances in the second half, there were a few situations on which we need to pay more attention. Against Cremonese, for example, we did well dealing with the counter-attacks and in the preventive phase, making a mistake on two goals. Our plan was to not concede, especially after we'd risked more against Bari".

FIELDING FOUR OFFENSIVE PLAYERS "It all depends on player availability. If everyone runs, it's easier to get results and play quality players. I am happy to train this group because they're training well and are motivated. When I talk about the defensive phase, I'm talking about the entire team, not just individuals from that department. We started badly with a defeat: against Lecce, we need to do more than play well, we have to win".
