As confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be wearing the number 12 shirt for the Spanish giants.

Alexander-Arnold is now just hours away from officially being presented as a Real Madrid player.  This marks the beginning of a fresh journey as he leaves behind his trademark number 66 jersey from his Liverpool days.

Real Madrid recently submitted their squad list to FIFA for the upcoming Club World Cup. Among them is Trent, who will inherit the number 12 shirt, previously worn by Eduardo Camavinga after Marcelo left the club.

The official unveiling is set to take place at the Valdebebas Sports City today, where the English full-back will appear alongside club president Florentino Perez.

A new identity at Real Madrid

At Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold wore the number 66 throughout his first-team career. While the number had no real significance at first, it eventually became iconic, much like his journey with the club.

However, his move to La Liga comes with different rules. Unlike the Premier League, La Liga only allows first-team players to wear numbers from 1 to 25.

Any number beyond that range is reserved for the reserve team, which means his signature 66 had to be left behind.

By choosing number 12, Trent will now carry forward the legacy of a shirt worn by one of Real Madrid’s most decorated players, Marcelo.

This change is more than just a shift in numbers, as it symbolises a new chapter, a new challenge, and a new identity for Alexander-Arnold at the Bernabéu.

As the world watches, all eyes will be on Trent Alexander-Arnold as he makes his Real Madrid debut in the Club World Cup, wearing number 12.
