Alejandro Garnacho has finally got his wish to join Chelsea, with the Blues successfully convincing Manchester United to sanction the transfer.

On Thursday, as relayed by The Peoples Person, reports confirmed that the two clubs had agreed a deal worth a fixed fee of £40 million, plus a 10% sell-on clause.

While some view it as a fair deal, others argue that the exciting winger has been allowed to leave at a bargain, pointing out the £52 million Noni Madueke-to-Arsenal deal.

Madueke registered 16 goal contributions last season, while Garnacho had 21 goal contributions. Clearly, the Argentine enjoyed a more impactful league campaign and should have commanded a similar fee.

Either way, the deal is done. INEOS will feel satisfied to have offloaded a player viewed as a troublemaker.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are delighted, with Give Me Sport painting a clear picture of the mood at Stamford Bridge.

What Chelsea really think of the £40 million Garnacho deal

“Chelsea are confident that recruiting Garnacho will be among the best deals of the summer,” writes GMS.

“Key decision-makers feel they have succeeded in negotiating a figure with Manchester United which will see him head to west London for at least £20 million less than his market value.

“Chelsea have already devised big plans to reignite Garnacho’s career… the hierarchy are anticipating that he will prove to be a successful addition.

“They’ve been impressed with Garnacho’s determination and drive to sign for them.

“Garnacho is desperate to prove his worth in the Premier League, and Chelsea are optimistic that his eagerness to highlight Manchester United’s mistake in casting him aside will play into their hands as they aim to help him rediscover his best form.”

For United, such revelations will be a bitter pill to swallow, but they were expected. More may even follow, with Garnacho now joining a direct rival after completing his medicals on Friday.

Garnacho: One of a kind

While things did not work out for the 21-year-old at the Theatre of Dreams, many concede that the United academy graduate is a rare talent. Raw as he may be, he is widely seen as a player with a high ceiling.

Erik ten Hag, who handed Garnacho his United debut, described him as possessing the skill set to become world-class.

It is a bitter blow for United to lose such a promising prospect. But if Chelsea can polish the rough diamond, they may well have landed a future star.

For the Red Devils, the silver lining lies in the books: as their academy product, Garnacho’s £40 million transfer fee will be recorded as pure profit. That boost to United’s PSR could tempt INEOS to dive into the market for the athletic midfielder this squad so clearly craves.
