With a message published on Instagram, Aldair, a Roma legend and world champion with Brazil in 1994, wanted to pay homage to Mats Hummels, a German defender who is now close to definitively saying goodbye to playing football.
In his tribute, Aldair called Hummels “one of the strongest defenders, serious, intelligent, always in the right place”, highlighting the technical and moral qualities of the German centre-back.

“World champions understand each other. I’m happy he’s represented Roma too,” wrote Aldair. “Congratulations for the 645 appearances and good luck for the future.”
