Real Madrid have struggled to maintain consistency in away matches this season, turning into a team that regularly drops points on the road.
Their latest setback came against Real Betis, adding to a trend that has persisted since the opening matchday of the campaign.
Back then, Carlo Ancelotti’s side started with a frustrating draw against Mallorca, but what seemed like an early stumble has now developed into a major concern for their title defence.
Madrid’s performances away from home have been far from convincing. Out of 14 league matches played away from home, they have managed just six wins, while suffering three defeats and settling for five draws.
This means that they have dropped points in eight of those 14 matches, highlighting a pattern that is proving costly in the title race.
To put it into perspective, Ancelotti’s team has already squandered 19 points away from home, including eight consecutive points in their last three away fixtures.

Their recent struggles include a defeat against Espanyol, a draw against Osasuna, and another loss at the hands of Betis.
A lack of consistency has been one of the key reasons behind their struggles. Madrid have not managed to secure more than two consecutive away wins in La Liga, a feat they have only achieved twice this season.
The first instance came when they won back-to-back matches against Celta Vigo and Leganes, while the second occurred when they secured victories against Valencia and Valladolid.
However, beyond these brief moments of stability, their performances away from home have been unpredictable, with results swinging from wins to draws and defeats.
The only real period of strong away form for Ancelotti’s men came at the start of the year. During that time, they strung together a run of four consecutive away victories across different competitions.
This included La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, where they secured wins against Valencia, Deportiva Minera, Valladolid, and Brest.
However, they have failed to build on that momentum in the league, leaving them vulnerable in the race for domestic glory.
