Alan Shearer has been talking about the summer 2025 Newcastle United transfer window.
Only four weeks to go now until it ends on 1 September 2025 at 7pm.
Eddie Howe having signed two first team players in Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale, as well as two teenage wingers in Antonio Cordero and Seung-soo Park.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe has lost two first team squad players in Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff.
Clearly more incoming signings needed these next four weeks but Alan Shearer predictably concentrating on the big story, that could dictate much of what happens in the next month, where will Alexander Isak be playing his football in the new season?
Alan Shearer evaluating the Newcastle United summer 2025 transfer window (so far…) when talking on The Rest is Football podcast – 3 August 2025:
“Up to now it has been a disastrous window for Newcastle United.
“It was meant to be the time that we kicked on with heavy investment and hopefully go to another level.
“It has been anything but that to be honest.
“They have missed out on several first choice targets, so up to now it has been really poor.
“Newcastle’s transfer window has been a mess.”
Alan Shearer asked if he is angry at Alexander Isak…
“No, I am not angry at all towards him.
“I understand how football works.
“I know what happens in and around the game.
“I probably understand his mentality.
“Do I like it? Do I understand it? Probably two different things.
“But I know what football is about and I know how it works, and obviously Liverpool have been into him or his agent.
“I just thought it might have happened next year and if it really is impossible for Eddie Howe to turn him around and he says no, and it sounds like that is the case, I want him to be out now.
“You get your big money for him, whoever’s prepared to pay that, and you get other people in, hopefully beforehand (ahead of selling your player), then you move on.
