Al-Hilal have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the acquisition of left-back Theo Hernandez, according to Sky Italia.
The clubs have settled for a €35 million base fee, €12m more than Milan paid to lure Hernandez to the San Siro six years ago.
Hernandez has been a standout performer for Milan since arriving from Real Madrid in 2019.
He played a crucial role in the 2021/22 Serie A title-winning campaign, where he formed a productive partnership with Player of the Year Rafael Leao.
Known for his attacking prowess and defensive solidity, the Frenchman has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe.
However, Hernandez’s time in Italian football could now be set to come to an end with Al-Hilal keen on snapping him up.
Having endured an underwhelming campaign both domestically and on the continental scene last time out, the Blue Waves are eager to improve their squad.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is on the verge of replacing Jorge Jesus in the dugout, while Bruno Fernandes could also join the Riyadh-based outfit.
Nicolo Barella is attracting interest from the former Saudi Pro League champions, and there has been talk of Cristiano Ronaldo completing a short-term loan switch.
Despite their successful negotiations with Milan on a transfer fee, Al-Hilal still have work to do in convincing Hernandez to move to the Middle East.
Al-Hilal are likely to demand a swift response from Hernandez, given they are seeking to bolster their squad as soon as possible ahead of the Club World Cup, which commences in mid-June.
Milan are already lining up a replacement if Hernandez leaves, with Juventus’ Andrea Cambiasso among their options.
