Whilst Jordan Veretout (32) has already agreed terms with Al-Arabi SC, the Qatari side don’t wish to pay a transfer fee for the Frenchman, Foot Mercato understands.
Veretout joined Lyon from Olympique de Marseille last September in a €4m deal. He featured prominently, making 38 appearances for Les Gones in all competitions. He scored twice and registered one assist in that time.
However, despite playing a key role in OL’s sixth-place finish in Ligue 1 and their run deep into the UEFA Europa League, he could be one of many players to leave the club amid their financial crisis. The club are waiting to hear on their appeal against relegation to Ligue 2.
Veretout has already agreed to join the Qatari side, as per RMC Sport, however, it seems as though they are looking to benefit from the uncertainty surrounding OL to secure the player on a free transfer, Foot Mercato understands. OL are open to selling the midfielder but they will demand a fee.
