Bild reports that AC Milan are the first club to make an offer for Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné, who is looking to leave the club this summer.

The Italian sides’ first offer is said to be worth around €16m, which is too little for Gladbach as they demand around €25m for the 23-year-old. However, despite this difference in price, it is still conceivable that an agreement will be reached in the €20m range.

Previously, Gladbach had hoped to break their sales record with the eventual sale of Koné but the midfielder’s progress has stalled the last couple of seasons.

A move to Milan would help Koné’s ambitions to join a club that plays in the Champions League as he wishes to play European football this season after winning a silver medal with France at the Olympics.

If Koné leaves Borussia Park this summer, then Gladbach should be able to continue to fund their much-needed squad rebuild. This summer, they have currently only brought in Philipp Sander, Kevin Stöger and Tim Kleindienst to help improve upon their 14th-placed finish last season.
