Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that it is “a little bit unexpected” to be in a position to win yet another Premier League title, despite his faith in the squad.

The reigning Premier League champions are just another three points from securing a fourth successive top-flight crown, in the second successive season they will have beaten away competition from Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Manchester City moved into the final day remaining in control of their own destiny having secured a vital victory over Tottenham in North London on Tuesday night, with Erling Haaland’s second-half brace securing the points.

West Ham are Manchester City’s final opponents of the 2023/24 Premier League season, and Pep Guardiola believes his players are ready for the final hurdle that presents itself between themselves and a top-flight crown.

Speaking to the press during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Pep Guardiola admitted that while the chance to win a fourth successive Premier League title is “a little bit unexpected”, he feels as though they are ready to “try it again” on Sunday.

“To arrive here, I said many times, it’s a little bit unexpected. But at the same time, knowing the players, I knew that they never, never give up,” Guardiola admitted ahead of the Premier League final day on Sunday afternoon.

“And we didn’t see them since the day after Spurs, and we see today how is my vibe seeing the players. But I have the feeling that they are there ready to try it again. That is my feeling.”

Manchester City will have one more game in the domestic calendar after their meeting with David Moyes’ side, with Manchester United in the FA Cup final being the last clash of the season and a chance to retain the club’s domestic double.
