FLW takes a look at six players that Bradford City could sign to strengthen the side after promotion to League One.

Bradford City are already making moves in the transfer market ahead of the summer window, as they look to add more faces to the squad after promotion to League One.

Last week, the club announced the signing of triple League One title winner Max Power on a two-year deal upon the expiry of his contract at Danish Superliga side AGF. The signing of Power marks the beginning of an exciting off-season for the Bantams, and supporters can expect to see an influx of new players as manager Graham Alexander looks to strengthen his side.

Here, Football League World takes a look at six more players that Bradford should target in the upcoming transfer window.

Kamil Conteh

While this one is more of a long shot, it would be a massive statement of intent if City were to sign a player like Kamil Conteh. The defensive midfielder is expected to leave Bristol Rovers after their relegation to League Two, having spent the second half of the 24/25 campaign sidelined with injury.

Conteh has impressed in his time at the Memorial Stadium after moving from Grimsby in January 2024 as a tough-tackling midfielder.

He is a sought-after player, linked with Championship club Derby County and League One Plymouth, so Bradford face tough competition. However, if he were to join, City would gain an engine in midfield, who is not afraid to get stuck in.

Ryan Ledson

In similar vein to Conteh, Ryan Ledson looks to be in demand after his release from Championship side Preston North End.

Bradford could look to strengthen what is already a strong midfield after the signing of Power, and Ledson would be a perfect fit. Featuring 26 times in the Championship this season, Ledson could fancy a move to League One if the right club comes in for him.

In the Lancashire Post, Ledson is described as "someone you’d want in the trenches with you", who offers "total commitment, old-school bite and raw passion." A player with so much desire would fit right in at Bradford, so Graham Alexander should be keen on exploring a potential deal.

The Liverpudlian had spent seven years in Lancashire, but has seen his starts dwindle this campaign. A move to the third tier could help him prove himself again, and he would be well suited to the big crowds at Valley Parade.

Only time will tell if we see him in a Bradford shirt though, with several other clubs - including Huddersfield Town - looking to secure his services.

Matty Pearson

Bradford will want to add to their backline after the departure of Romoney Crichlow and loanee Jack Shepherd, who returns to his parent club Barnsley.

The club could look towards Matty Pearson, who is a commanding figure and has a wealth of experience at this level. Having played 29 times in League One for the Terriers this term, he now finds himself without a club.

This rumour is doing the rounds on social media, with one Huddersfield fan convinced that he is on his way to BD8.

Not only can Pearson defend, but his towering presence means that he scores goals too. He netted five goals this season, and will continue to be a threat from corners regardless of where he ends up.

The defender could be swayed by his strong connections in West Yorkshire. He is local to Bradford, so a potential move would make sense to both parties. If City are to challenge next season, they need somebody like Pearson at the back.

Ollie Pearce

With Star forward Andy Cook set to remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, the Bantams need a goalscorer to lead the line heading into League One.

Pearce comes off the back of a highly successful season in the National League, winning the golden boot with York City. In his 46 league games, the forward netted an impressive 31 goals, firing his side to a second-placed finish. It was not to be for York, who lost their semi-final playoff to Oldham Athletic on 20th May.

Bradford need to be cautious that this would be a massive step for the player. The club have dipped into the non-League market before in hopes of unearthing talent, only to be met with disappointing results. However, if a gamble were to pay off, Pearce could get City firing in the third tier.

Alassana Jatta

Alassana Jatta may be on the lookout for a new club after Notts County missed out on promotion to League One this term.

Jatta struck up a formidable partnership with teammate David McGoldrick, and the pair racked up 43 goal contributions between them. However, this was not enough as Notts County fell to the hands of Wimbledon in the play-offs, with Jatta himself getting controversially sent off.

The forward had a brilliant return in 24/25, scoring 19 goals, meaning he finished second in the league's scoring charts. As a result, he will be wanting to prove himself in a higher division, and in the absence of Andy Cook, City could well be the team to grant that wish.

Jatta is bound to be on the radar of other clubs though, so City must move quick if they want to get their hands on the striker.

Scott Banks

After leaving the club two years ago, Scott Banks could become keen on a return to Valley Parade.

His previous loan spell was somewhat successful, reaching the 2022/23 League Two play-offs under ex-manager Mark Hughes. Banks impressed with his technical ability and pace, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The winger then joined German side St Pauli from parent club Crystal Palace in but has since struggled to break into the squad, only playing 106 minutes in the Bundesliga this season.
