Peterborough United are known as a producer of top young talent and their current reserve of diamonds is being eyed up by some of the country's elite.

The latest news linking one of Posh's players with a departure this summer was Ronnie Edwards. The defender was said to be the topic of talks between Peterborough and an unnamed Premier League team, as per The Athletic, while talkSPORT's Alex Crook then reported that Southampton were interested in the 21-year-old.

Another young Posh defender, Harrison Burrows, has been the topic of rumour as he has been linked with a move to Sheffield United. The Peterborough Telegraph reported last week that he was due for a medical at Bramall Lane later that week.

Journalists on the Sheffield side later reported that the Blades would need a sudden cash injection to try and get a deal for him done.

Peterborough's captain is set to become a free agent next summer, so chairman Darragh MacAnthony may look to cash in on him sooner rather than later.

Peterborough fan view on Harrison Burrows interest

Batt thinks that the left-back will go this summer, and he thinks, as is the norm for his favoured club, that they will get a good amount of money for him.

"I think that Burrows will probably leave this summer," the Peterborough supporter told FLW. "Whether it's to Sheffield United or another club, it feels inevitable.

"It's weird with Burrows because he was forced to play left-back so many times last season and he just could not do that job. Fans were fed up with it, telling the manager to play him in his preferred position further up the field, but then something clicked last season and he became what he became.

"Winning League One Player of the Season from left-back is pretty rare. He scored goals, crucial goals like the last-minute one in the cup final. He got assists too.

"So I'm not surprised that he's going to be moving on. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a top-end Championship club. He's 22, so he's really young. He has plenty of years ahead of him, so I fully expect him to move.

"I'm not sure whether it would be to Sheffield United because of the off-field issues. But I 100% expect him to leave and, knowing Posh, knowing MacAnthony, they'll want a fair few million for him, especially off the back of last season.

"I'd expect £5 million at least, but the later it goes in the transfer window maybe we'll sell for £3-4 million, but Posh always get a lot of money for their star assets."

Harrison Burrows deserves to make the step up

It may have taken a little bit of time for things to click with the 22-year-old, but there should be no doubting it now: he is an elite League One left-back.

Even if you didn't get to watch him last season, the numbers that he put up paint a good picture as to his performances.

Because his deal is reaching a critical point, and because of the way that Posh like to operate, Batt's hunch that Burrows will go probably isn't far off the mark.

They sell their youngsters for good money and then buy more. Letting him leave for free, potentially, goes against what MacAnthony has built at that club.

If he does go, there's no question that he has the right to try and prove himself in the Championship because he's more than done it in the third tier.
