£30m man likely to move on in July if Chelsea continue to ignore him

It’s the 22nd day in June – time to check out how our number 22 is getting on this month.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is in a pretty strange position, and it’s not going to get any easier.

He got a decent amount of football in the end last season, but that came almost entirely in the Conference League. Next season there won’t be the same opportunities for him. His midfield minutes are going to be taken by Dario Essugo and Andrey Santos and a (hopefully) fit Romeo Lavia, and signings in attacking areas will take his minutes out wide.

Limbo for Dewsbury-Hall with limited role set to diminish further

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall gets off the team bus.

Given even the highly rated and highly anticipated Santos has had 0 minutes in this tour so far, former Leicester man KDH feels a long way off featuring at all. So far he’s really just been a training ground dummy.

So far, Dewsbury-Hall has seemed pretty happy as a bit part player. But this will be a second season of that role, with even fewer opportunities than before.

Expectations for Dewsbury-Hall not clear

On the one hand, we haven’t heard any serious rumours about Dewsbury-Hall leaving at all. But if he finishes the Club World Cup with 0 minutes and sees the new arrivals this summer taking his potential minutes, we expect the rumours to really ramp up. It was an odd signing to begin with, let’s face it, and given the improvements in depth we’ve made it’s hard to see a long term future for him here.

Perhaps a loan will be organised – if he’s really not needed a sale would probably preferable. But for now, we’ve heard nothing. It’s all very quiet on the KDH front.
