The staff at La Liga giants Real Madrid could well make the call not to allow a trio of first-team stars to play any part at the Club World Cup.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal and David Alaba as the players in question.
Real Madrid are of course currently in the USA, to play their part in the newly-formatted FIFA Club World Cup.
Los Blancos headed into the tournament no doubt eager to make a deep run, after a hugely underwhelming campaign in 2024/25.
As alluded to above, though, should this prove to be the case, a trio of players will, potentially, not have contributed on the pitch in any way.
As per a report from Marca, prior to the Club World Cup getting underway, Real Madrid sent a team of emissaries to inspect the pitches which they were scheduled to play on.
And the takeaway was clear: No outfield player to have suffered a recent ACL tear should feature.
This advice comes to protect the likes of Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal and David Alaba from unfavourable terrain.
It now remains to be seen if Xabi Alonso agrees to as much, albeit with it looking increasingly likely that three headline members of Los Merengues’ defensive ranks will watch on from the sidelines for the duration of the Club World Cup.
