POSITIVES

Travelling Newcastle United fans were fantastic

Our travelling support is always raucous and today was no exception.

The fans’ performance at Selhurst Park wasn’t deserving of that late Munoz strike.

The trains have been especially uncooperative this weekend, so hats off to many of those that navigated their way to Palace this afternoon using that particular mode of transport.

Set-piece brilliance

Who says we’re hopeless at set-pieces?

We took the lead from a very clever move, straight off the training pitch.

Lewis Hall and Sandro Tonali cleverly combining to feed Anthony Gordon, whose dangerous cross from the by-line was bundled in by the hapless Guhei.’

Pope was MOTM

Sandto Tonali was excellent and our best outfield player, but with three massive saves, Nick Pope was my MOTM.

Even his distribution with his feet was okay today!

NEGATIVES

What an absolute sickener

Conceding an equaliser in the 94th minute that deprives you of all three points, is an absolutely horrible way to end a game of football.

But let’s face it, we really weren’t at the races today.

Palace had 27 touches in our box. We had 10 in theirs.

They had 16 shots to our 1.

If we’re going to be honest, we didn’t deserve to win that game, despite the cruel, cruel timing of their equaliser.

Goal drought

We drew another blank today and whilst we registered a goal, it of course came courtesy of one of their centre-backs.

With 14 goals in 13 league matches, that has to be a serious concern. And to add insult to injury, Isak limped off. Again.

Missed opportunities

One point from our last six leaves us languishing in tenth and it’s a fair bet that we’ll be in the bottom half of the table come Sunday teatime.

Had we beaten West Ham and Palace, we’d be second. I appreciate it’s all ifs and buts… but just let that sink in.

With Liverpool up next, I reckon we need to concentrate on the cup and so desperately need to beat Brentford in the Carabao quarter-finals.
