A look at three players who could be ideal signings for Leeds United as Marseille close in on a move for Manor Solomon.
In another blow for Leeds United’s summer transfer window plans, the Whites have fallen behind in the race to sign Manor Solomon a permanent basis and will seemingly have to look to secure an alternative.
It has been reported by Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sports that Olympique de Marseille have moved ahead of Leeds in the race for Solomon and that the Israeli international has given the French giants the ‘green light’ for the move.
That news follows the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting a move for Everton striker Beto is now unlikely, whilst reports in Portugal suggest Sporting CP are now renegotiating Hidemasa Morita’s new deal amid interest from the Whites.
With deals seemingly stumbling at Elland Road, Leeds will want to act swiftly to bring someone in in place of Solomon and Football League World has looked at three potentially ideal options.
One player that has recently been linked with Leeds would be Manchester City’s James McAtee, who would appear to fit the bill in terms of replacing Solomon’s versatility in attack.
Capable of playing on both the left and the right of attack, as well as a so-called number ten, Walkden-born McAtee has gained a fair of Premier League experience now with 48 appearances in the top-flight for both City and Sheffield United.
As City seek to rebuild themselves this summer with strong links to both Florian Wirtz and Morgan Gibbs-White, McAtee may well find himself surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium and he has already been linked with a move to Elland Road.
A player that has not yet been linked with Leeds but would again fit the bill for Daniel Farke’s high-intensity, aggressive and attacking style of football would be Spain international winger Bryan Zaragoza.
The 23-year-old attacker, who can play on both sides but predominantly plays as a left-sided forward, has spent this season on loan at Osasuna but a lack of cutting edge in the final third as well as injuries has prevented him from fulfilling his potential.
That potential saw him earn a move to Bayern Munich from Granada in the January transfer window of 2024. The Andalusian is unlikely to be part of the first-team back in Bavaria and it could be a shrewd move for Leeds to make this summer.
The Norwich City attacker is one that has been linked with Leeds this summer and it would make a lot of sense for the Whites to try and compete with the likes of Athletic Club for the 24-year-old winger.
Borja Sainz joined Norwich City in the summer of 2023 from Turkish Super Lig outfit Giresunspor, having begun his career in the Basque Country with Alaves after a stint in the Athletic youth system, before a loan spell at Real Zaragoza.
He enjoyed a magnificent opening few months to the 2024/25 season with 15 goals scored in his opening 18 matches of the campaign before then managing to notch just three more times in his final 23 appearances. That is quite a low floor for the maverick Championship attacker but he also shown he also has a very high ceiling.
