Chelsea are among the teams interested in Jobe Bellingham, but he won’t come cheap according to the latest reports.

The young Sunderland midfielder is much in demand, and looks like he will get a Premier League move this summer. CaughtOffside say the Black Cats want £20m for the 19 year old.

A “powerful” midfielder with 7 goal contributions in 33 games this season, Bellingham is certainly living up to his family name. The Championship is a great proving ground for young players, and he’s showed no issues fitting in. Another year of development somewhere would be handy, but he’s clearly got the talent.

A lot will depend on Sunderland’s promotion future. They’ve just lost to Frank Lampard’s Coventry but are certainly still in the playoff race. If they fail to make it to the Premier League, a sale becomes far more likely.

Chelsea could move for midfield talent despite growing number of options

With Dario Essugo set to arrive this summer too by all accounts, plus Andrey Santos returning from his loan, and Romeo Lavia hoping for an injury free season, the midfield could be very crowded for the Blues in 2025/2026.

But these sporting directors have shown they never rule out signing a talented young player when they’re available. So any move for Bellingham could possibly be accompanied by a loan out – either to another Premier League team, or maybe to our sister club Strasbourg. That would allow Bellingham

If he doesn’t end up being Chelsea level, we could still easily be in a position to profit from selling him if we secure him for the £20m mentioned above and he ends up doing well on loan somewhere. So don’t rule out our interest based on the depth we’re going to have in that area.
