Liverpool are in the process of overhauling their squad despite winning the 2024/25 Premier League title. In have come Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz - two former Bayer Leverkusen players who will strengthen Arne Slot’s attacking options.
Those arrivals are going to have a major impact on Liverpool’s other forwards. Mohamed Salah will remain first choice on the right wing but will now be more ably supported by Frimpong.
Therefore Liverpool’s other contenders for the position - Federico Chiesa and Ben Doak - will be listed as available this summer.
Doak spent part of last season out on loan at Middlesbrough and has been valued at £30m by the club. And now Liverpool’s conditions for a Chiesa deal have been spelled out by Sky Sports.
According to a new report, Liverpool are NOT inclined to accept a loan deal for Chiesa this summer. It is going to have to be a sale. No deal involving a straight loan or even a loan with an obligation to buy will be entertained.
And the same report states Liverpool will seek €15m for the Italian international, roughly the same sum as they paid to Juventus in last summer’s transfer window.
Chiesa is under contract until 2028 - but has been unable to make a decisive breakthrough under Slot. He has been constantly linked with a return to Serie A - with AC Milan and Napoli reckoned to be in the lead for his signature.
But the Sky Sports report claims that Chiesa is not a priority for either of those sides. Instead it is Roma - now coached by Gian Piero Gasperini - and Atalanta who are more likely to land the Euro 2020 winner this summer.
