Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho delivered a fantastic performance during Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The Bundesliga outfit secured a slender advantage at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night after a powerful strike from Niclas Fullkrug in the 36th minute.

However, they should have scored more with the chances created. Sancho played a big part in the victory and he was brilliant with his work rate over 90 minutes.

The 24-year-old had 100 touches against Les Parisiens with 88 passes. He was exceptional in the final third with an impressive 13 take-ons won alongside 14 ground duels.

He created three chances for his teammates including a big one for Julian Brandt, who was denied a goal by a crucial sliding block from Marquinhos in the box.

With the result, Germany have secured a top-two spot in the UEFA co-efficient rankings this term. A fifth-place finish in Bundesliga guarantees Champions League football.

Dortmund are the beneficiaries as they are fifth in their league. The result also means that the Premier League will only have four places in the European competition next season.

Sancho has indirectly ended United’s prospects of making the competition with a top-five finish, but they could still benefit from the same with his permanent transfer this summer.

Dortmund are said to be interested in re-signing Sancho on a permanent basis. The financial boost from qualifying for the Champions League could improve their chances of signing him.

The Englishman also has the opportunity to revive his United career, but it seems unlikely after his public criticism of manager Erik ten Hag. He has no future at the club unless the Dutchman leaves.
