According to Mundo Deportivo, Zinedine Zidane is one step away from becoming the next Bayern Munich manager from the start of the next season, although an agreement has not yet been signed between the former Real Madrid manager and the German club.

The Frenchman has become the club’s number one target after Xabi Alonso announced that he would be staying for another season at Bayer Leverkusen, while Julian Nagelsmann has recently extended his contract to remain as the German national head coach until 2026.

Zidane has not managed since he left Madrid at the end of the 2020/21 season and it was widely suspected that he was waiting for Didier Deschamps to step down from his role with Les Bleus, something that has become increasingly unlikely.
