Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni believes it was the “summer of Ademola Lookman” after a drawn-out transfer saga with Inter Milan.
Zazzaroni gave his thoughts on the apparent end of the transfer soap opera in an editorial in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
It now seems clear that Inter Milan will not sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.
That won’t be for any lack of trying, though. The Nerazzurri made two offers for the Nigerian.
First, Inter reportedly offered €40 million. Then, they increased their bid to €45 million including add-ons.
However, Atalanta rejected both offers. And not just that – La Dea were intransigent in the face of Inter’s bids, reportedly not giving a counteroffer, and refusing to sell to a club in Serie A.
Therefore, Lookman himself tried to force Atalanta’s hand.
The 27-year-old made a public transfer request. He then no-showed training for over two weeks.
But it was all for nothing, as Atalanta stuck to their guns and refused to give in to Inter or Lookman.

Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni was actually the person who first revealed that Inter were pursuing Lookman.
In July, Zazzaroni reported that Inter already had an agreement in hand with Atalanta.
He notes that it was “a summer in which the media dominated, for over a month, a negotiation where the seller (Atalanta) refused to allow it to go anywhere after rejecting a €45 million offer from Inter.”
“Yes, it was the summer of Ademola Lookman,” Zazzaroni adds.
“And once he’s finally returned, he’s been met with the iron fist of Pagliuca and Percassi.”
“As often in the recent past, the real transfer window – the last dance – will begin in the last week.”
