Manchester United have been trying all summer to complete their acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, but his teammate Yoane Wissa has complicated affairs.

The Bees reportedly said they would sell only one of their forwards this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur trying to secure the DR Congo ace’s signature.

Spurs have been trying to rattle the Red Devils all throughout the summer, initially by trying to hijack United’s deal for Mbeumo, and now by swooping for Wissa, knowing fully well that it could cause United’s deal to come crashing down.

And now, according to CaughtOffside, INEOS will not take things lying down any longer.

Yoane Wissa race on

They are planning to fight fire with fire and are ready to hijack the North London side’s chase for the DR Congo international.

The Bees will only come to the negotiating table if a club submits a £50 million offer for the 28-year-old forward.

“Tottenham have held initial talks over a potential transfer move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, who would likely cost around £50m.

“However, other well-connected sources also claim that THFC are likely to face competition for Wissa, even if nothing is that advanced for the moment.

United ready to hijack

“The other interested clubs are Manchester United and Newcastle, who are both exploring the market for opportunities up front.”

Last season, Yoane Wissa managed 20 goals and five assists, which explains why so many clubs are chasing his signature.

Thomas Frank would love to reunite with him, but imagine if United sign both of Brentford’s two goalscorers? Would that not be the perfect icing on the cake.

So far, the Red Devils have failed to land their top striker targets — Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen. So a move for the Brentford striker would a make a lot of sense given his Premier League-proven status.
