Keith Andrews has hinted that Yoane Wissa could play for Brentford this weekend despite trying to force a move to Newcastle.

The wantaway striker did not feature in the Bees’ 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.

Newcastle have seen two bids for the Congolese turned down by the west London outfit, with Andrews, who made his managerial debut at the City Ground last week, saying that he has a decision to make over whether Wissa will be involved or not.

Igor Thiago started up top for Brentford against Forest, netting the Bees’ only goal from the penalty spot as Andrews’ tenure started with a loss.

“He's been training with the team,” Andrews said of Wissa.

“In terms of being involved this weekend, I'll make a decision on the squad tomorrow. But he has been a part of the group this week."

Earlier, Andrews joked that Wissa “owes” him, hence he should not want to leave the Gtech Community Stadium.

"I have got a good relationship with Wiss,” Andrews told talkSPORT.

"I worked really hard with him last year to try and find goals. Seven of his 19 goals last year came from set pieces.

"He owes me really, so he shouldn't be going anywhere, to be blunt!"

Brentford take on Aston Villa on Saturday, before a trip to Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup second round in midweek.
