The Eagles believe they have struck a good deal for an exciting younger talent
Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino will undergo a medical with Crystal Palace on Thursday.
Standard Sport understands that a deal worth around £21million, plus add-ons, has been agreed between the two clubs, and Pino will sign a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old has made over 150 appearances for Villarreal since his debut in 2020.
Pino contributed four goals and seven assists as Villarreal finished fifth last season and will add creativity to Palace’s side following the departure of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.
Pino, who plays predominantly on the right wing, has 15 caps for Spain, scoring three times.
Oliver Glasner said after his side’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest that he expected Palace to be busy in the final week of the transfer window, and Pino’s arrival is unlikely to be the last deal the Eagles look to complete before next Monday’s deadline.
Palace have enquired about Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, who is available for around £15million, as they brace themselves for interest in captain Marc Guehi before the window shuts.
It’s been a quiet summer so far for Palace, with Glasner voicing his frustrations about the club’s inability to get players in ahead of a season in which they are expected to challenge on four fronts, with qualification for the Conference League proper expected to be secured on Thursday.
Palace have so far only managed to bring in goalkeeper Walter Benitez and left-back Borna Sosa but hope to finalise a number of deals in the final few days of the window.
